Eligibility Criteria for NDA
Candidates appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can apply for this examination.
Age Limit:
- Unmarried Male/Female: Between 16½ to 19½ years as of the first day of the month in which the course is due to commence
Educational Qualification:
- Army Wing: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board/University/Central Board of Education. Streams allowed: Science, Humanities, and Commerce.
- Air Force Wing: 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Naval Wing: 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
There is no cut-off percentage of marks for any wing. Additionally, candidates interested in joining the Indian Army can also apply through the 10+2 TES Entry, and those interested in the Indian Navy after the 12th can apply through the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme.
NDA & NA 2024 (1) Vacancy Distribution:
- Army: 208 (including 10 for female candidates)
- Navy: 42 (including 12 for female candidates)
- Air Force: 92 (including 2 for female candidates) for Flying, 18 (including 2 for female candidates) for GD (Technical), and 10 (including 2 for female candidates) for GD (Non-Technical)
- Naval Academy: 25 (including 9 female candidates)
Note: Selection is based on the standards set by the Service Selection Board, not merely on the number of vacancies.
Application Process for NDA & NA
- Visit the UPSC Examination official website.
- Complete Part I and Part II of the registration process.

- Mathematics: Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry (2D and 3D), Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statistics, Probability, Circle, Sequences, and Series. (Based on NCERT books of 10th, 11th, and 12th standards)
- General Ability:
- English: Vocabulary, grammar and usage, comprehension.
- General Knowledge: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Freedom Movement, Geography, Current Events.
